How this website and the Modbus Tester application handle your data. Last updated September 2026.
You do not need an account to download or use Modbus Tester. The application does not require a licence key, does not ask who you are, and does not send your register values, device addresses or project files anywhere.
This website
Analytics
We use a web analytics service to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records technical information such as the pages you view, the referring page, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and operating system. We use it in aggregate only, to decide what to document and improve. We do not use it to identify individuals.
Cookies
The pages of this site do not require cookies to work. The analytics service may set its own cookies or use local storage in your browser to tell repeat visits apart. You can block or delete these in your browser settings without losing any functionality here.
Downloads
Downloading the installer is an ordinary web request. It is recorded in standard server logs, which contain the file requested, the time, your IP address and your user agent. These logs are kept for a limited period for security and abuse handling.
Messages you send us
If you write to us through the contact form, we receive what you type, including your name and email address, and we keep it for as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of the issue. We do not sell it and we do not add you to a marketing list without asking.
The application
What stays on your machine
- Connection settings, Modbus settings, register names and display types.
- Saved configuration and project files (
.json) that you create yourself. - Excel logs and CSV exports, written where you choose.
- MQTT broker definitions, including any credentials you enter for your own brokers.
All of this is stored locally, in your own user profile or in the files you pick. It is never uploaded to us.
Network traffic the application makes
- To your devices: Modbus requests over TCP, UDP or a serial port, to the addresses you enter.
- To your MQTT broker: only when you enable MQTT publishing, and only to the broker you configure.
- To our update service: the application can check whether a newer version is available. That check sends nothing but an ordinary web request for a small version file, and it can be ignored or declined.
Beyond that, the application does not phone home. It contains no advertising and no third-party tracking.
Your rights
